Who is who

"I joined Wensum Ospreys with my family after visiting a club taster
session about 3 years ago. Since then we've been on some fantastic
trips, enjoying paddling (and swimming!) in some great locations. I've
recently become a Level 1 coach, so hope to be able to help out a bit at
this excellent club."

LISA and DAVID HOWELL  -    .

Lisa  and David are working her way through the star tests.

Lisa is our Child Protection Offiicer

MARCUS LEESMITH  -  Bosun

As Bosun Marcus keeps a watchful eye on all of our kayaks and

equipment in the club hut. Marcus helps his brother run the

Paddleworks shops (ask for a deal on equipment and Marcus

will look after you) Marcus is also a level 2 kayak coach.

ROLAND BEWICK  -  Kayak Instructor / Training Officer

"I am a late starter, first got into a canoe in 1992, thanks to Nigel & Helen,

and gradually got bitten by the paddling bug. Now a level 3 coach. I enjoy

long journeys, surfing, white water, taster sessions and the look on peoples

faces the first time they roll."

As training officer Roland makes sure we have a busy and suitable training

programme for our young paddlers and instructors.

CHRIS SAYER  -  Kayak Instructor

Chris combines a busy life in the town band with his paddling.

MARTYN HANNANT  -  Level 2 Kayak instructor.

I did my 1 star at 13 then didn't do any for about 18 months. Then I was asked to take part in some flat water racing. Well it turned out I was quite quick, winning my first race. So for the next 3 years did some more reaching 18 meant I was to old for the races I was doing so stopped. I have been coaching now since I was 16 and still have the bug.

NIGEL EMMERSON  -  Kayak Instructor and Secretary

I started paddling in Wells Quay at the age of 12  in a wooden frame double kayak and have never stopped enjoying the sport. I really enjoy the variety of paddling we do in the club. My favourite places to paddle are in the creakes at Wells and Burnham Overy.

As secretary Nigel is a contact point for the club and edits the newsletters and website.

HELEN EMMERSON  - Memerships

I started paddling at College and met my husband (Nigel) at a canoeing weekend in Kings Lynn.  I have had spells as secretary, membership secretary and usually end up as catering manager when required.

JEFF TOSER Kayak Instructor

I have been paddling since 1974, starting out sea kayaking from the village of Maylandsea, Essex, where I lived. Joined Southend Canoe Club and progressed into white water, which lead to slalom. Competed regularly up to the mid-80's, and then again in the mid-90's. Was a member and coach of the Essex Slalom Squad up to 1985. I have trained on the Olympic course at Augsberg in Germany, and paddled the river Sanna and Inn while in Austria.
My role as a Coach in WOCC, is pass on my experience to other club members in as many paddling disciplines as required.

HELEN TOSER Kayak instructor

Started canoeing in the Guides in 1980, continuing when joining Venture
Scouts. Started white water and slalom when I married Jeff. In October 2006. I gained my Level 2 Coach award, sponsored by Norfolk Army Cadet Force, I am a detachment commander for them at Wymondham.
I hope I can give a feminine approach to WOCC's coaching staff.

MIKE SEGON  -  Treasurer

Mike has been our treasurer for over 20 years, he started when his children were paddling with us. Mike keeps a very close watch on our spending and always makes sure we have money in the bank

SEB MOORE -
