River Running

Breaking in and out of eddies, running a new drop or just bimbling down a bit of grade 2 with your mates, running a river can be one of the most rewarding pleasurable experiences in the world. It requires skill and nerve to navigate your way down a river and it is not to be taken lightly. We train our members to run rivers safely and the BCU have awards to grade a paddler's skill. You can train to become a river leader and teach others to get the most out of the river. Before running a river you must have the right equipment;

buoyancy aid, helmet and spray deck are all essential items to keep you safe and having fun on the river.

How to join us

Our club is accredited with Sport England's Clubmark status, which is awarded to clubs by our National Governing Body (NGB) The British Canoe Union when the club is able to demonstrate that it meets the NGBs criteria as to playing programme; safeguarding and protecting children; sports equity and ethics and club management.

Clubmark is an acknowledgement that we take these issues seriously and that we are striving to provide a high quality and welcoming environment for all participants in the sport.
